7.00 The Krypton Factor
"Television's toughest quiz", fronted by Gordon Burns. Mental agility, observation skills, intelligence were all stretched to the limit, while the contestants' bodies took a pounding on an army assault course. The show lasted from 1977 until 1995, and there has been talk of a BBC revival of the format. Burns now hosts the BBC's regional news programme North West Tonight.
7.30 Coronation Street
"Alf Roberts upsets some valued customers with his rules for his new shop," read the TV Times billing. Rovers regulars at the time included Hilda Ogden (Jean Alexander), Terry Duckworth (Nigel Pivaro), Rita Fairclough (Barbara Knox) and Brian Tilsley (Chris Quentin).
8.00 The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 ¾.
Gian Sammarco played the hapless teenage diarist in this comedy based on Sue Townsend's hugely successful books. Julie Walters and Stephen Moore played his warring parents.

The long-running current affairs programme returned for a new series tonight. First screened in 1963, the
show was on air for 35 years.
9.00 The Winning Streak
Drama starring Dinah Sheridan, Leslie Sands and Shaun Scott about conflicting loyalties in a wealthy family.

US sci-fi adventure, set in a time where Earth is fighting against alien invaders.
