1945
The end of World War II sees Germany dramatically reduced in size. Before long it is also divided into East and West.

Germany's defeat means that Poland and Czechoslovakia return to the map of Europe after a six-year absence.

Meanwhile the USSR gains Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and all of Ukraine, and occupies northern East Prussia (Kaliningrad).
