I myself am a member of the parliament's environment committee. The work involves detailed scrutiny of legislation and all the amendments proposed by MEPs. Often it is quite technical.
I am very pleased with what we have done on water quality, on national ceilings for emissions of airborne pollution and the recycling of electronic waste and old cars.
A question we have been discussing recently is whether people should be paid for donating tissues and cells. The Council of Ministers is prepared to allow it, but Parliament is against.
