Katarina

Katarina Beladicova, aged 33, is the owner of a hairdressing salon in Bratislava, Slovakia.

What will your country contribute to the EU?

Everyone says Slovakia has cheap labour, but it also has highly skilled and well qualified people.

What is your biggest hope?

I am very optimistic, generally. Professionally, I hope more high quality products will be available in Slovakia.

What is your biggest fear?

I have no fears. If everyone relies on their own abilities, EU enlargement should be no problem. We should not underestimate ourselves.

Which countries in Europe have you visited?

I have been to Germany.

What do you admire about the existing EU?

The people of the EU are relaxed, which I like. This is probably because EU countries are economically well developed.

Will you consider emigrating?

Definitely not. I am confident in our ability to compete with the rest of the EU. My family is here. If able and skilled people leave the country, what hope is there for further development?

How do you think your life will change after your country joins the EU?

I think there will be no radical change.
