This year's festival was be the 40th one, with Paul Simon among the acts who launched the festival in 1965. Some fear the event is losing touch with its roots by broadening its line-up - but others have been attracted by the variety of acts on offer.

The Cambridge Folk Festival was inspired by the film of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, Jazz on A Summer's Day.
