HULTSFRED
Hultsfred, Sweden
13-15 June
Hultsfred is Sweden's biggest music festival, attracting 30,000 fans each year, and is based in the southern village of the same name. It was founded by volunteers in 1986 and is still run on a not-for-profit basis.
The site is certainly picturesque – the main stage is beside a lake and surrounded by pine trees.
This year's acts included Linkin Park, Radiohead, Massive Attack, The Streets and Stereophonics.
But it met a strange ending - police arrested 100 people at the end of the festival after fears their behaviour could lead to violence. Some of those arrested said they were only performing a conga.
