It was a bumper year for British festival organisers, with Glastonbury selling out in a day and tickets for the UK's other big rock shows going quickly too.

Rock fans got a new weekend-long event in Download, while the Cambridge Folk Festival and The Big Chill were proof of the enduring diversity of the British festival scene.
