California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was re-elected.
Democratic incumbent Senator Dianne Feinstein won back her seat, as expected.
The two most noteworthy House races were in the 50th and 11th districts. In the 50th the contest was a re-run of the June special election to replace the corrupt former Republican Randy Cunningham. Republican Brian Bilbray increased his majority after his narrow win in June. In the 11th district, Republican incumbent Richard Pombo, whose image had been tarnished by his links to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, was defeated by Jerry McNerney.
Democrat incumbent Dianne Feinstein beat Republican Richard Mountjoy. Democrat Barbara Boxer holds the other seat.
