The most interesting election in the Beaver State was for the governorship. Democratic incumbent Ted Kulongoski held off a strong challenge from the Republicans, probably benefiting from the presence on the ballot of Mary Starrett, of the conservative Constitution Party, who was likely to take votes away from Ron Saxton.
Incumbents were victorious in all five of Oregon's House races.
There is no Senate race this year. Republican Gordon Smith and Democrat Ron Wyden hold the seats.
