Only seats in the House of Representatives were up for grabs in North Carolina this year, and the Democrats managed to pick up the 11th district.

The former NFL quarterback Heath Shuler beat eight-term Republican Charles Taylor.

SENATE
There was no Senate race this year. Republicans Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr hold the seats.
