Senator Jeff Bingaman has been re-elected as has
the popular Governor Bill Richardson, a possible Democratic presidential candidate in 2008.
But there is a competitive race on in New Mexico's first district as Republican incumbent Heather Wilson faces a strong challenge from the Democratic candidate, state Attorney General Patricia Madrid, in a district that voted for John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election.
Democratic incumbent Jeff Bingaman has beaten Republican Allen McCulloch. Republican Pete Domenici holds the other Senate seat.
