In the closest race here Democratic incumbent Jennifer Granholm defeated Republican challenger Dick DeVos. The incumbent Senator - Debbie Stabenow, another Democrat - also defeated Republican challenger, Mike Bouchard.
Only one of the 15 Michigan House districts looks set to return a new Congressman: in the 7th district, Republican incumbent Joe Schwartz lost the primary to a more conservative challenger, Tim Walberg. Mr Walberg is now expected to win in this Republican-leaning district.
Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow has beaten Republican challenger Mike Bouchard. The other Senate seat is held by Democrat Carl Levin.
