The gubernatorial race was won by the incumbent Republican Governor, Sonny Perdue.
In the 4th district primary, incumbent Democrat Cynthia McKinney was defeated after attacking a guard who had stopped her from entering the Capitol building for not wearing a security pass.
There was no Senate race this year. Republicans Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson hold the seats.
