In pictures: Nomadic lifestyle

Most families from my village have between two and four camels. I have three. When I am in Timbuktu I often take tourists for camel rides in the desert.

If there are no tourists around I will go with a group of other families to Taudenni, the salt mine in northern Mali. It can take between 15 and 30 days to get there by camel.

Or I will travel to Mauritania to buy cotton, sorghum and millet. I then take the goods back to Timbuktu to sell them.
