No remorse

Cyasa Emmanuel Habimana refused to have his photograph taken with others accused of taking part in the genocide, but he admitted he had been an Interahamwe leader.

The Interahamwe were Hutu extremists who carried out much of the killing in 1994.

Cyasa stood out from the prison crowd and was able to order around the other prisoners and the prison officials. Like the other prisoners I met, he showed no remorse and few, if any, regrets.
