There are new people in power, but the life of farm dwellers has not changed. If I could ask the government one thing, it would be please give us land ownership so we can stop being slaves and beggars.
My daughter was born here and worked for 15 years – my wife has been doing the laundry for the white farmer for 20 years. We feel we have worked for this land and have rights. We have been to the [government] Land Affairs office and they say that after the election our problems will be addressed. Based on what the officials there said, we are hopeful that we will be successful.
