South Africa: Jobs and money
Bonginkosi J Wili, North-West Province

I am a contractor working at a platinum mine on machines and trains underground. It is 2km down and takes ½ an hour to walk. Only the important guys, mostly whites – take the train.

I've worked underground since 1978 and there is more respect between black and white then before. There is no master/servant relationship now. Safety is much better and always discussed.

I earn 1,300 Rand a month ($220). Financially it is a struggle. I do not feel happy about my children's life and their future.
