Photo Journal: Liberian health worker
Marcia

This is my colleague, Marcia Grant, who oversees health promotion in the camp. She says many people are shocked when they realise flies sit on food and vomit into it. Lots of children in the camp have scabies.

In 1990 I was a nurse at a Monrovia hospital. When the war began rebels took over the hospital, forcing us to care for them. I couldn't leave for five months because of all the killings.

When peacekeepers arrived I fled to Ghana. After two years the Red Cross found my family in Sierra Leone. We all met up again in Liberia.
