Political profile:
Annabelle Ewing comes from the foremost dynasty of Scottish nationalism.
Her mother Winnie is a member of the Scottish parliament and president of the SNP.
Annabelle herself came to public attention when she fought the Westminster by-election in Hamilton South following George Robertson's elevation to the peerage, and achieved a 22% swing to the SNP.
She is a solicitor, and at one point worked as a lawyer for the European Commission, which confirmed her pro-European views.
Ms Ewing is equally committed to the party's ultimate aim of independence for Scotland.
