He sat, prior to his election, on a large number of party bodies including as a councillor, while working as a media and PR manager.
He met his wife while canvassing for the party.
Mr Green comes from the libertarian arm of the Lib Dems, and says that he believes in giving people as much freedom as possible.
The MP was appointed the party's spokesman on youth affairs in November 2001, and was spokesman on the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister between 2002 and 2003.
