DESCRIPTION: Luxembourg

Luxembourgers bucked the European trend of rejecting ruling parties, instead giving the governing Christian Social People's party well over a third of the vote. Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker is the EU's longest-serving head of government and has been tipped as a possible new president of the European Commission, though he says he does not want the job. Turnout was a very strong 85%, with national elections taking place at the same time as European polls - and voting being compulsory. Luxembourg sends six legislators to the European parliament.
