DESCRIPTION: Mid Scotland and Fife
The Scottish National Party is strong here, with leader John Swinney and his deputy Roseanna Cunningham both holding constituency seats, and three list MSPs as well. The rest of the region is dominated by Labour. Richard Simpson, who won the seat for Labour in 1999, resigned as a minister amid controversy last year. The Lib Dems have a presence in North-East Fife, leaving the Conservatives with solid representation at regional level.
