Stradey Park housing application deferred by council

28 May 10 10:33 GMT

A controversial application to build 355 houses on Stradey Park has been deferred by Carmarthenshire council.

Taylor Wimpey have outline planning permission to build homes on the old Llanelli RFC ground, but detailed consent is needed for the go-ahead.

Some residents are opposed, fearing flooding and sewage problems in Llanelli.

Councillors were due to consider the application on Thursday but deferred it to 24 June for a site visit.

Planning officials have recommended the scheme for approval.

Llanelli played their last game at Stradey Park in 2008 and sold the land for housing before their move to Parc y Scarlets.
