Search for missing woman resumes

21 December 09 11:44 GMT

Police are continuing their search for a missing woman whose hire car was found on the Second Severn Crossing.

Gemma Garn, 26, from St Dials, Cwmbran, Torfaen, had been out with friends and was last seen during the early hours of Saturday in Pontnewydd.

Her black Kia Rio hire car was found on the bridge at about 1150 GMT on Saturday, about six hours after it was believed to have been left there.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said the search was due to resume on Monday.

Police and Ms Garn's family say they were concerned for her safety and well being because she had never gone missing before and this type of behaviour was "out of character".

She is white, about 5ft 6in, with short dark hair with blonde highlights, blue/green eyes and a fair complexion.

She was last known to be wearing a black polo neck top underneath a black and white patterned dress, a brown casual jacket, black tights and black high-heeled shoes.

Ms Garn graduated from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2006.

If anyone saw Ms Garn's vehicle or believes they may hold information that could help the search, they are asked to contact Gwent Police on 101.
