A new president has been appointed by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos).
Dumfries and Galloway Chief Constable Pat Shearer replaces his Grampian counterpart Colin McKerracher.
The presidency is for two years and is held on a rotating basis between Scotland's eight chief constables.
Mr Shearer said he was "delighted" to take over the post and hoped to help in "shaping the delivery of service to the public of Scotland".
Outgoing president Mr McKerracher said he had enjoyed his time in charge and believed he had seen "significant improvements in national policing".
