Sites picked for St Kilda centre

3 September 09 09:37 GMT

Sites have been identified as possible locations for a visitor centre dedicated to the St Kilda archipelago.

All three are on the Western Isles, 41 miles across the sea from the internationally-protected islands.

Western Isles Council - Comhairle nan Eilean Siar - has ruled out building on St Kilda because of difficulties reaching it.

The sites to be investigated are at Cleitreval in North Uist, Leverburgh in Harris and Mangersta in Uig.
