Union leaders are due to meet with Nottingham tram managers in a bid to avert strike action in a row over pay.
Earlier this month a planned strike by members of the GMB union was postponed following a revised offer by the Nottingham Tram Consortium (NTC).
The union had sought a 5% increase but NTC rejected this saying current economic conditions meant it faced a drop in income.
But NTC's offer of a 1% rise was turned down recently by the union's members.
The GMB said the deal had too many strings attached.
Tram bosses and union representatives will meet on Monday to see if a deal can be reached before a planned one-day strike on Saturday.
