A police investigation has started after the death of a scuba diver at an inland diving site in Leicestershire.
The diver, who has not been named, was reported missing at Stoney Cove on Saturday afternoon. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
He was found after a search by the centre's rescue team, but died later at Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry.
The diver was under the supervision of Olympic Scuba (Dive School) from Seaham, County Durham.
"First aid was administered by the Stoney Cove team and was continued by the emergency services, the casualty was then taken to hospital," a Stoney Cove spokesman said.
"None of the divers involved in the incident were under instruction or under the supervision of Stoney Cove," he said.
Stoney Cove is based in a flooded quarry in Stoney Stanton and is used by around 60,000 divers each year.
