Crash injuries kills pedestrian

A 65-year-old pedestrian from Essex has died after he was hit by a car.

Leonard Johnson from Overton Drive, Benfleet, died at Romford's Queen's Hospital on Saturday.

He was hit by a red Mazda 626 on the town's High Road on 12 November and was taken to Basildon University Hospital with serious head injuries.

He was later transferred to the Romford hospital. A 62-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released on bail.
