Men rescued from snowy mountain

27 March 09 07:55 GMT

Two students had to be airlifted to safety after getting lost in snow on a mountain in the Lake District.

Members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue team could hear the men's shouts for help, but could not see them when they became stranded on Helvellyn.

As it was getting dark, an RAF Sea King helicopter was scrambled to rescue the pair on Thursday night.

They were eventually found and flown to hospital where they were treated for mild hypothermia.
