Town's shops open after 21 years

13 October 08 11:02 GMT

A shopping centre has been opened in a south Gloucestershire town, 21 years after houses were first built there.

The Willow Brook development in Bradley Stoke, which contains the area's second largest supermarket, was opened by town mayor Robert Jones.

Three hundred jobs have been created, most at the new Tesco Extra store. Mr Jones said he hoped the centre would be a focal point for the community.

But some local people were concerned of the impact of the extra traffic.

"When complete there will be 17 other units," Mr Jones said.

"We want to work with the local community and hold events in the square ."
