9 May 09 13:26 GMT

The bodies of a man and a woman have been found inside a house in Newmarket.

Police said officers were called to the bungalow in New Cheveley Road at 1715 BST on Friday.

Firefighters and police entered the property and discovered the bodies. A police spokesman said there was evidence of a fire.

Police named the man and woman as estranged couple Keith McDonald, 47, of Newmarket, and Christine McDonald, 48, of New Cheveley Road, Newmarket.

Det Supt John Raine, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: "At this stage we are not looking at any third party involvement and are treating the deaths as an isolated incident."

A force spokeswoman said officers went to the bungalow after reports were received expressing concern about the welfare of two people believed to have been at the property.

She said post-mortem examinations would be conducted by a Home Office pathologist and were likely to take place on Sunday.

She said: "Forensic experts will attend the scene and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths."
