Hustings for Jersey senator hopefuls

14 June 10 15:48 GMT

The nine men who have put themselves forward for the position of senator in the States of Jersey are due to make their last hustings addresses.

Each candidate has prepared to answer questions from islanders at the event, which is due to begin at 1930 BST, at St Helier Town hall.

The States Assembly, the island's decision-making body, is made up of 12 senators who sit for a six-year term.

Polling will be held on Wednesday in each parish.

The previous incumbent was automatically removed from his position as he was absent from the island for six months.

The candidates are: Gerard Baudain, Nick Le Cornu, Francis Le Gresley, Philip Maguire, Gino Risoli, Patrick Ryan, Geoff Southern, Stuart Syvret and Peter Whorrall.
