Motorists in Jersey are being warned not to break a temporary 20mph speed limit on the island's busiest road.
The restriction is in place while resurfacing work is being carried out on Victoria Avenue, the island's only dual carriageway.
States of Jersey Police said they saw "a number" of drivers speeding in the area at the weekend.
Officers said they wanted to remind people the limit is in force even when no roadworks are actually in progress.
They admitted it may seem confusing, but said the restriction is in place because there is a temporary road surface with no lane markings.
Some pavement and central reservation stones are also not cemented in yet, making the area dangerous for traffic, police said.
Traffic disruptions are expected in the area between La Rue du Galet and West Park until June.
