Jersey's public pension fund faces shortfall

5 March 10 17:36 GMT

Public employee pensions in Jersey may fall behind the cost of living because the States retirement fund is millions of pounds short.

A £63.2m gap was found when the fund was valued two years ago and talks are continuing about how to fill it.

If negotiations do not establish a way of dealing with the shortfall by May, pensions will go up by 0.3% less than the cost of living.

The fund is due to be evaluated again at the end of this year.
