Plans to create 60 new allotments

10 February 09 12:14 GMT

The Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society has lodged a planning application to create 60 allotments in a field in St Lawrence.

The proposal includes putting up fences and sheds, and providing car parking for allotment users.

John Hidrio, who chairs the horticultural society, said he has had lots of enquiries.

He said he had been contacted by people who want to grow their own vegetables but do not have the space.

Mr Hidrio added that the proposed allotments, at the top of Mont Cochon, will be available to anyone who is a member of the society.
