17 May 07 10:07 GMT

Plans to build a £25m supermarket in Jersey have been scrapped.

The owner of the former Odeon Cinema in St Helier, Le Masurier, said there was not any support for the project from residents and businesses.

Le Masurier said it will continue to subsidise the building which is now called the New Forum Cinema and it is focusing on new plans for the area.

The plans had included 453 parking spaces along Bath Street, and James Street would also have been renovated.
