Building overspend rows continue

3 June 07 10:24 GMT

Guernsey's Public Services Department (PSD) has vowed to continue to dispute more than £30m overspend claims made by contractors on two major projects.

The dispute involves contracts for St Sampson's marina and the new St Peter Port jetty.

A £3.3m estimate for the jetty was changed to an open-ended budget in 2003 when it was found to be in a worse condition than at first thought.

Contractors are claiming £27m. Claims for the marina total more than £7m.

The States said it would continue to contest both claims.

A £7m overspend on the island's airport redevelopment has been resolved.
