Wales and British Lions rugby star Mike Phillips has been arrested over an alleged assault on a taxi driver.
The 26-year-old scrum-half was arrested after a taxi driver claimed he was assaulted in a dispute over a fare in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan.
South Wales Police confirmed a man, 26, had been held in custody before being released on bail while inquiries continue.
Mr Phillips' agent said there was "nothing at all" in the allegation.
Mike Burton said: "Mike Phillips has been co-operating with the police investigation. But there is nothing in the allegation at all."
The alleged incident happened three days after Mr Phillips returned home from the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa where he played in all three Test matches.
Mr Phillips, who plays for the Ospreys, helped Wales to the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2008 and has won 38 international caps.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "Police officers were called to an incident in Penarth town centre area involving a dispute over a taxi fare.
"A 26-year-old man has been arrested for a public order offence and released on police bail pending further inquiries."
