Father's murder charge withdrawn

Scene of Swansea murder

A father who was jointly charged with his son over the murder of a 53-year-old Swansea man in May has had the case against him dropped.

Richard Cullen, 42, was formally cleared at Swansea Crown Court after the Crown Prosecution Service said it would not offer evidence against him.

His son Darren, 21, is still charged with John Mellin's murder.

Richard Cullen remains accused of a related offence of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Mr Mellin's body was found at a house in Ystwyth Place in the Clase area of the city just before midnight on 25 May.
