School head's child sex charges

Pembroke Dock Community School

A primary school head teacher has been charged with 19 offences of sexual touching of children.

David Thorley, 55, head of Pembroke Dock Community School in Pembrokeshire, was removed from duties involving children earlier this year.

He has been bailed by Dyfed-Powys Police to appear before magistrates in Haverfordwest next month.

Police said the alleged offences were committed between 2003 and 2007 in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.

In a statement the force said: "Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that a 55-year-old man answered bail at Haverfordwest police station in relation to an investigation into sexual offences against children.

"He was charged with 19 offences of sexual touching under section seven of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

"He was bailed to appear at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on 1 July 2008."
