Inmate missing from open prison

Craig Hooper

Gwent Police are appealing for information about an inmate who has gone missing from Prescoed Prison in Monmouthshire.

Craig John Hooper, 43, failed to return to the open prison on Friday.

He is serving a three-and-a-half year sentence for drugs offences and was sentenced at Swansea in April 2008.

It is believed he may be in the Neath area, where he has contacts. He is white, 1.75m (5ft 8in), of medium build, with grey hair and green eyes.

He has a swallow tattooed on his lower right arm and a number of other tattoos on his hands.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Hooper, but anyone with information about his whereabouts can call Gwent Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
