Two arrests after death near pub

Two people arrested following the death of a 20-year-old man near a pub in the south Wales valleys remain in custody.

Police said an incident occurred near the New Griffin pub in Beaufort Street, Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent at 0100 BST on Friday.

David Roy Barnes from Ebbw Vale was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman aged 21 from Ebbw Vale and a man, 23, from Brynmawr have been arrested.

Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses to contact 01633 838111.

Insp Mark Riley said: "The incident occurred near the Griffin hotel and as a result a 20-year-old Ebbw Vale man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is being treated as suspicious.

"A 21-year-old woman from Ebbw Vale and a 23-year-old man from Brynmawr were arrested in connection with the incident."
