Pair released over woman's murder

Police at scene

Police in Newport say two people being quizzed over the murder of a woman in the city have been released.

The body of Alisandra Kaczmarsca, 27, was discovered at a property in the Maindee area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A 25-year-old man arrested the same day in connection with the death has been released without charge.

A 27-year-old woman arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murder has also been released on police bail.

The murder inquiry was launched after paramedics were called to a house in Dewstow Street in Newport just before 0300 BST on Tuesday.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the incident to contact Gwent Police.
