One car was left stuck on top of another after a crash involving five vehicles, including a bus.

A man had to be treated in hospital after the collision between a bus and four cars in the Rhondda.

The crash happened early in the morning in Bute Street in Treherbert, and left debris scattered across the street.

The injured man was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant. Police said his injuries were not believed to be serious.

The road was closed after the collision..

Paul Stephens, a resident who heard the noise of the crash from his home and went past the site on his way to work, told the BBC Wales news website: "It took place on Bute Street on the pedestrian crossing.

"A bus was stretched across the road and debris scattered behind it. On the left of the road, a car was on the pavement but I could not see anyone inside.

"The bus driver was speaking on a mobile phone, off the bus, and looked completely shaken"

"From here, you could see the rear of the bus and a car in front of that, which had obviously been hit by the front of the bus."

He said the front of the bus was completely smashed where it had hit the car in front, and the force of the collision had pushed the next car along underneath another one.

"The bus driver was speaking on a mobile phone, off the bus, and looked completely shaken.

"There was one unmarked ambulance on the scene at this time," he added.
