Boy, 15, dies after car hits wall

A 15-year-old boy from Blaenau Gwent died after the car he was travelling in hit a wall outside a fire station.

Nathan John Higgins, from Rassau, Ebbw Vale, died following the collision in Brynmawr at around 2110 BST on Friday.

Three others, who were in the car, suffered "significant" injuries but have since been discharged from hospital, said Gwent Police.

A 17-year-old arrested in connection with the incident, in Bailey Street, has been released on police bail.

Gwent Police say the car, travelling from Kings Street, left the carriageway and collided with a wall outside the fire station on Bailey Street.

'Busy time'

Inspector Fran Richley said: "The collision occurred in a local community at a busy time of the night.

"I am appealing for any witnesses to contact the police with any information they may have."

Police said the 17-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
