Inquiry after valleys house fire

Fire scene. Photo: Graham Lewis Fire officers are investigating the cause of a blaze which damaged a house in Aberdare in the Cynon Valley.

A neighbour heard what sounded like an explosion and called the fire service after discovering flames at the house in Maes-y-Deri, Aberaman.

The property was empty at the time of the fire, just after midnight.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said three crews quickly brought the fire on the ground floor under control and the cause was being looked into.
