A decision over whether to turn a castle into a five-star hotel complex has been postponed by planners.
There are proposals to turn Hensol Castle near Miskin in the Vale of Glamorgan into a holiday complex.
The Grade I listed castle could be converted into a 43-bedroom hotel with spa, and to build apartments and holiday chalets.
In 2003, store tycoon Gerald Leeke bought 17th Century Hensol Castle for a rumoured £5m.
The castle which has been used as a family home, a hospital and currently as a conference centre, would undergo major conversion.
Its concert hall will be changed into five apartments, former ward buildings will be converted into 54 apartments and there would be 36 timeshare chalets.
There will also be staff accommodation and the walled garden will be restored.
Planners have recommended that the proposals be approved with conditions that the company behind the scheme, J H Leeke & Sons Ltd, make a financial contribution to affordable housing and educational facilities as well as drawing up an ecology plan.
But at a meeting held on Wednesday night, a final decision on the plans was postponed pending a site visit.
