Arrest over barmaid glass attack

Kayleigh Edwards Police investigating an attack on a student who was taking a cigarette break outside a Conwy pub have arrested a 22-year-old local man.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, say officers.

Kayleigh Edwards, 20, from Tyn-y-Groes near Conwy, was hit in the face with a bottle or glass and needed stitches.

Miss Edwards, a hairdressing student at Coleg Llandrillo near Llandudno, was working behind the bar at the Conwy Vale pub last Friday.

She said she was sitting on a wall outside taking a cigarette break when she was approached by five men wearing balaclava masks.

Miss Edwards said one man hit her in the face before they ran off, leaving her needing seven stitches to a large cut.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to ring them on 0845 607 1002.
