Woman 'critical' after collision

North Wales Police say a woman is in a critical condition after a collision early on Friday that closed the A5 at Chirk near Wrexham.

The incident happened at 0638 BST involving a heavy goods vehicle and a Vauxhall Astra car.

The driver of the Astra was taken to Wrexham Maelor hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police say the A5 will reopen later but there are long tailbacks both ways on the A483 Halton roundabout.
